REality Check: Soak up the Love

John 3:16-17

Are you soaking up God’s love today?  I know that is easy for me to say when I am on vacation and feeling the sunshine stream onto my back and face.  It is a definitely harder when storm clouds, cold air and rain are all around (I am talking literally and symbolically here).

But that is what is so amazing about being a Christ follower; no matter what the weather, the scenery or location, Jesus is there pouring His love all around and in us.  John 3:16-17 is our reminder of that love that we get to breathe in every day.  “For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

I have eternal life today in Jesus.  Today! Today!!!  Not only when He comes to take us home, that will be a glorious day—no doubt—but I have eternal life today, in Jesus.  Do you know why?  Verse 17 tells me why… “God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.”  He came to save, and he accomplished it.  He finished it, so I have salvation today because of what He did for me!  I believe it!  And I am going to live it.

So, Jesus, thank you for your love!  Thank you for your sacrifice that gives us the opportunity to soak up love wherever we are, and whenever we take the time to look around and notice.
